The Wolf
The night fog was rolling in out from the east as it cast a spell on the night making the forest disappear and then I laid my eyes on him. Walking through the fog like a mysterious creature he came from in the dark forest to meet me, but was weary on how close he got. His soft blue eyes the size of marbles where looking me up and down. They attracted me to him to go closer and pat him but as soon as I moved he bared his sharp white teeth at me. He was only defending himself because he thought I was a threat, but when he realized I wasn’t one he sat down on the cold snow. The grey-white coat of fur looked so soft like the snow he was sitting on, or like cotton candy freshly spun. His ears perked forward in the direction of a howl and he howled back under the moon. I thought it must have been his mate and I think it was. He suddenly jumped up on all four paws and made new footprints in the snow. The footprints he made in the snow where a little bit smaller than my hand. He was a stocky build, one that would be able to chase his prey easily. He turned at me and bowed as if he was saying “thank you for not hurting me.” Then he ran into the illuminated night sky and rustled the bushes with his tail. He was the Great Grey Wolf.
